The United States Postal Scales PS50 is a 5-pound Digital Electronic Postal Scale that weighs items between 0 to 5 pounds and displays the weight to .1 pounds, so the mail is not returned for insufficient postage. Weight is displayed on a 7 segment LCD. To achieve its .1-pound Accuracy, the PS50 uses its automatic calibration feature. The Tare feature is used to set the weight of a container for small items to zero, so when the items are weighed, only the items weight are shown. A mechanical overload protector prevents damage to the scale when weighing items over 5 pounds. The weighing platform, which measures 5.5 by 5 inches, features a fold-up top for weighing oversized items, such as large flat envelopes or mailing tubes. The product is made of fine-textured, high-impact ABS plastic, The PS50 operates either on AC with the included adapter or on a 9-volt battery (Not Included), and features a 1 minute warm up time. When operated on the battery, an auto shut off features turns the PS50 off after 5 minutes to conserve battery life.
